Viva Salud calls for the immediate release of Ubai Aboudi, director of our Palestinian partner organization.

Ubai Aboudi, US citizen, and director of our Palestinian partner Bisan Center for Research and Development was arrested Wednesday, November 13 at 3 am by the occupation forces.

The next hearing that will decide his fate will take place on Monday, November 18th, 2019 in the morning.

Ubai, 35, was at home with his wife and 3 sons (3 year-old-twins and the oldest, 5 year old) when it happened. The soldiers threatened Ubai's family with their weapons and took Ubai in a military vehicle.

Ubai appeared in front of an Israeli military court on Thursday 14th November. Although he was not charged, he was not released. The hearing that decided his fate took place on Monday, November 18th, 2019 in the morning. He was sentenced of 4 months of administrative detention.

Viva Salud strongly condemns the brutal arrest of Ubai Aboudi and demands his immediate release.

For Viva Salud and the movements working alongside us, Ubai is a colleague and friend who inspires us with his pedagogy and ability to connect local contexts with global issues of struggle against capitalism. As director of Bisan, Ubai plays a key role in the progressive Palestinian social movement, fighting for respect for the collective rights of the Palestinian people.

We call on every human rights defender to support our call and share this statement as widely as possible.
